What we collect
We collect account and session records needed to operate the app and analyze participant behavior. This includes your authentication identifier, session records, answers, response times, collection selections, and survey responses you submit through the app, including free-text or selection-based responses such as your main area of study.
Guest accounts
Guest play uses anonymous Supabase accounts. If you later upgrade that guest account with email or Google, existing sessions, answers, and related records may remain linked to that upgraded account so your progress is preserved.
Passive session metadata
To understand how the app is used, we may collect passive session metadata at the start of a session. This can include IP-derived country, region, city, timezone, browser language, device type, browser family, operating system family, viewport bucket, referrer host or class, and a one-way hash of the source IP address. We do not use the browser geolocation permission prompt for this data.
Browser storage and authentication
The app stores authentication and session state in the browser so you can remain signed in on the same device. We use Supabase Auth for account and guest-session management.
How we use data
We use collected data to operate the service, preserve progress across sessions, evaluate how participants classify media, analyze aggregate usage patterns, and improve the product and research workflow.
Data sharing
We do not describe this app as selling personal information. Data may be processed by service providers that help operate the app, including hosting, authentication, and database infrastructure.
Data retention
We may retain session, answer, survey, and related research records for as long as needed for product operation, research analysis, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or recordkeeping unless a different retention period is required by law or project policy.
